Founded in 2005 and based in the Lyon suburb of Saint-Priest (France), Biom’Up develops and commercializes hemostatic products based on patented biopolymer designed to simplify surgeons’ practices for open surgical procedures in numerous specialties such as cardiac, general, orthopedic, and laparoscopic surgeries, and to give patients a better quality of life.
The company’s lead product, HEMOBLAST™ Bellows, and its laparoscopic applicator are marketed in Europe, Australia and the United States.
Since its creation, Biom’Up has been committed to a quality approach that ensures the high performance and safety of its products. We are firmly focused on complete control over all our activities, continuous improvement of our processes, and compliance with the applicable regulations (in particular, 21 CFR 820 for the USA).
We always ensure that the necessary and relevant resources to achieve these objectives are put in place and support in the pursuit of these goals. Biom’Up continues to invest in the implementation of an infrastructure that will help us achieve our goals.
Founder Dr. Christian Gagnieu is a Key Opinion Leader in the field of biopolymers for medical applications. Dr. Gagnieu was a researcher at the INSA Lyon Engineering School and Research Manager at the Lyon Pharmacy Faculty. He has collaborated with many companies in the medical field as an expert in biomaterials in general, and in resorbable polymers in particular. Biom’Up was founded on the basis of the development of his research.
After the initial setup at the Lyon technological centre in Saint-Priest in 2009, the facility was adapted to ensure that quality and regulatory requirements were both met. At that time, Biom’Up ensured that the facility could meet future growth requirements in production and distribution, preparing for future expansion of hemostatic products.
